In 2018, my dad and my younger brother bought an entry level 3D printer to see what can be done with such a tool in the workshop. In the beginning, they felt like it has been a poor investment since it could only replicate what other people made available online. During a break, I asked my dad for a challenge and he proposed to 3D design and print custom windows for a model railway project of him. I used Google Sketch-up to quickly model the windows up and it immediately became clear why 3D printers are revolutionizing the 21 century and why additive manufacturing is becoming more and more important.

I currently own 2 FDM printers of which one is heavily modified with custom designed parts to suit my needs.

After only a few years of using 3D printers, I already designed and printed hundreds of custom parts in different materials, using multiple technologies or ordering them online. I have expert level knowledge designing for additive manufacturing, I know trustworthy print services and have skilled partners with more 3D printers on hand.
